Today I watched this coyote walk through the yard, at a casual pace. She was focused down using her sense of smell, then stopped and looking around repeatedly. Eventually she came upon a captivating smell in the tall grass. Seeking to locate her prey, she made small circles following her nose. Meanwhile a chipmunk was trying to burrow out of her reach. After a few digs into the earth, she grabbed the chipmunk, and took only five bites before swallowing whole. I was struck by her grace, fluidity and efficiency of movement.
