Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino

Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino What you need to know!

The Grid Report

Gambling!

They boast 1,143 gambling machines in 108,900 Square Feet of casino excitement.

Plenty of table & Poker Games you can find all your basics; Blackjack, 3 Card Poker, Baccarat (over a dozen tables) Craps, Let it Ride, Roulette etc. They also have Mini-Baccarat, Let-it-Ride, Pai Gow Poker and more. It’s the strip, if their neighbor has it, they have it!

The place once started its life as the Aladdin but has now morphed into Planet Hollywood. Ironically enough if you actually want to go to Planet Hollywood you have to head to Caesars. Once the place was bought out all of the mistakes that the Aladdin made were corrected. No longer do you have to walk through the mall to get to the casino. And check in has now been fixed as well. The casino is dark and sexy with a party vibe. The pleasure pits that have popped up all over the strip seem to fit in here pretty well.

The Grid Report

What’s to eat?

Everything! With their giant mall, and plenty of food options in the resort itself you will find what you are hungering for.

To simplify your selection the following have been rated for value.

Cheap (reasonably priced for what you get). ‘Bout what you’d expect (if you don’t understand this you should stick to McDonalds). Holy Shit! (Unless you are used to your bill looking like your phone number stay away)

As Vegas eateries change almost hourly you might want to double check if these places are still in operation. This blog is very lazy with updates...

Now normally I would take the time to rate these places, but with some many options in here I never got around to actually checking the menus. So you are on your own!

Hotel

With over 2,567 rooms the place is pretty small for the size of the property. I guess this is why it’s always pricey to sleep here.

The Room Basics

I have stayed at Planet Ho twice. Once in a basic room and once in a suite. No it was not a high roller suite, but it was pretty damn nice. All rooms are themed to various movies. You get a few pictures on the wall of said movie, but they also have a movie prop here or there. I doubt they are authentic, at least not all of them. But still a fun diversion from a your basic hotel wall art.

Standard room

Our standard room was nice. It was clean, but a bit dark. Not in the décor or paint but the lighting was just shitty. I understand going green but I was stumbling around a few times during my stay. Flat screen TV and a pretty nice bathroom. Seems like they used higher quality furnishing and since everything is still pretty much newer nothing was beat up. The bed was OK as were the pillows, but outside of the lighting we were very comfortable in this room.

Suite

Our suite on the other hand was the cat’s ass. We have slept in better ones in Vegas before, but we were surprised at just how nice this was. The bath room had a weird zigzag layout to it, As soon as you walk in there were a couple of sinks in a hallway, next room was a large tub with TV. You could watch the trip or watch the tub while you are soaking. A nice large separate shower rounded off the space. The bedroom was large and had a nice seating area where you can watch TV. If you need to write a letter or use your laptop there is even an office area near the entry.

What you need to know.

Views are very hit or miss here but chances are 60% of the room will look out to something nice. You can peep the Bellagio fountains if you get lucky, and City Center is right across the street. With so many rooms, some of the movie themes were stretched a little thin. We were stuck with the “Ed Wood” & “McHale’s Navy” rooms.

In closing:

For the price, Planet Ho is a great option. Close to everything, but if you just want to kick back and stay at home base they have everything that you need. The pool on the other hand is shit. Tiny and nothing worth seeing. Its wet and that’s about it.

What else you need to know?

They do have a Spa but if you are looking to kill time, go to the mall. One of the few on the strip, outside the fashion show, that you can actually shop at. No super High End retailers like in the snooty malls so you will actually be able to spend money in here.

Major attractions.

As Vegas shows change almost hourly you might want to double check if these are still in operation. This blog is very lazy with updates...

Miracle Mile Mall. Plenty of stores to choose from. They slowly started rebranding what was once an awesome Middle Eastern adventure space from when it was once the Aladdin. But it looks like the abandoned that idea and are just saving their money. If the resort didn’t have a movie motif to it, this would seem out of place. But as it sits now it works, kinda like a movie set.

Cabo Wabo Comedy Club. They tell jokes here.

Peepshow. Holly Madison is on the way out, or gone by the time you read this. But it’s a fun show. Sure its kinda a titty show, but I saw a bunch of woman in the audience and everyone was having a good time.

Surf the musical. Featuring music by the Beach Boys, this show has not gotten good reviews so far. After a few weeks they are already retooling it. I never saw it so I can’t comment.

Cee Lo Green. Loberace. I know who Cee Lo is, I saw him in a Spirit commercial once. But he has small T-Rex arms and that frightens me.

They also have a pet show, a magic show, a variety show etc. You better check their website something new is always popping up here.

Helpful Hint.

Go to one of the many kiosks in the mall and ask for their coupon book. Great savings for a bunch of places in there. The mall itself has 2 free shows. Unlike the awesome ones (when they work) over at the Forum Shops these both suck. They do have a mini dancing fountain show in the middle of the mall, but their other attraction is just watching rain fall on a pound.

What did a hundo get us?

We played through five $20.00 bills on various machines. If we bet $1.00 a spin, we give em 20 spins and cash out. $2.00 per spin is 10 spins. If you can’t wrap your brain around this math, please do not gamble. I am sure this test of the slots is insanely scientific. But your actual millage may vary.

1st machine: Pinball. $0.75 Max Bet. Cashed out with $36.50. Major hit Pinball. 120 quarters in the bonus game.

2nd machine: Wheel of Fortune. $2.00 Max Bet. Cashed out with $2.00. Major none.

3rd machine: Super Times Pay . $1.25 Max bet. Cashed out with $6.25 Major hit none.

4th machine: Top Dollar. $3.00 per spin. Cashed out with $5.00. Major hit none.

5th machine Green Money Machine. $5.00 Max Bet. Cashed out with $0.00 Major hit none

Total results. Turning $100.00 into $49.75 in 30 minutes seemed pretty easy. Assuming my math is correct everyone that gambles here is a sucker!
