Typically our first few weeks involve a lot of spacial awareness activities. Tag games are a great way to explore movement within space and also allows students to practice locomotor skills such as: Jogging, Skipping, Hopping, Jumping, Galloping, Sliding, and Leaping.
With skills like skipping we often give student's cues like "STEP - HOP" to remember what their body should be doing.
Below is a video that demonstrates each of the 7 locomotor movement.
Below are some suggestions for some lead up games that you can play as a family or siblings could play to work on spacial awareness.
