October 18 - October 22

Hello to all of you, we had some pretty wacky weather this past week. It looks as if the Fall has arrived and even brought some glimpses of Winter as well with the snow flurries showing up on Friday. Hopefully we still have some sunny days before that snow sticks to the ground.

For this week we are going to have some easy games that you can set up and play at home. These games can be played by yourself and challenge yourself to complete them in a timed race and then try to beat your best time, or do them with siblings or as a family to increase the fun.

Enjoy.

SNOWBALL CLOTHESPIN PICK UP - Paper Copy

This next game we played this week and although a jump rope would be ideal, any heavier rope would do. You could substitute the dots for paper plates or use pillows in your living room (ask your parents permission first). This game was pretty fun and my students challenged themselves to walk forward and if successful they then tried to walk the rope sideways and finally walking backwards.

We also flew some paper airplanes this week and worked on seeing how many throws it took to get them to fly through a hula hoop that was hung from a basketball hoop. At home, you could lay down a sweatshirt and try to get the airplane to fly landing in the sleeve's making them into a hoop shape on the ground. Change where you start from and if the weather allows for it, play this outside. below is a video showing you how to fold your own airplane. There are many ways to make a paper airplane. Maybe you can find other patterns and try those out to see which one flies best for you. This is great for hand eye coordination. Remember to throw it gently instead of throwing with too much force.
