Following Pret-a-Portrait’s recent visit to take school photographs, a viewing card explaining how you can view and order pictures should have come home with your child earlier this week. Please check your children's bags for these.

We are currently appealing for any items that you might be able to spare to support the local Hope foodbank in Northampton for our harvest collection. Now more than ever, with the cost of living challenges, more and more people are finding themselves having to turn to foodbanks to provide for their families. Here is a shopping list of items that they have requested. If you are able to provide a donation, please drop it into the office before Friday 18th October.
Additionally, if any of our families find themselves in need of support or help, please come and talk to us. We can signpost you to where support is available. Thank you in advance for your support.

On Hello Yellow Day, our school was a vibrant sea of sunshine as children came dressed in bright yellow outfits to show their support for mental health awareness. From dazzling yellow dresses to cheerful yellow hats, the creativity on display was truly inspiring. The day was not only about the fun of dressing up, but also about coming together for a great cause. We are thrilled to report that our efforts paid off, raising an incredible £318 for Young Minds. This fantastic amount will help make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Thank you to all children, parents, and staff for your enthusiastic participation and generosity!
On Friday 18th October, as part of our art and history learning in Year 6, we would like to take the children to the Northampton museum in the centre of town. While we are there, we will be able to recap all of their history learning so far during their time at Wootton and look in particular at how it relates to our own local history: there will be a particular focus on how the town changed before and after the Industrial Revolution (which is their present history unit) and the shoe industry. This means that we will also spend some time exploring the shoe gallery, looking at the history of shoe making and shoes from around the world, including different cultures and traditions. We are also going to enjoy exploring the great art galleries in the museum.
We are hoping to arrive at 10am when the museum opens and we will be back in school before the end of the day - your child will therefore need a packed lunch on this day to eat at the museum (you can order a packed lunch through Kingswood if you wish). The children will need to wear their school uniform and bring their lunch and drinks bottle in a rucksack to carry on their backs as they move around the museum engaged in tasks. To enable the trip to take place the school is asking for a voluntary contribution of £7.15, which covers the cost of the coach.
If insufficient contributions are received, the school may have to make the decision to cancel the trip. If your child is entitled to Pupil Premium, you may wish to use your voucher towards this payment. Please visit the trips section on Arbor to give consent for your child to go on this trip to the Northampton museum. Please contact the office, Mrs Andrews or Miss Bertans if you have any further questions
How to sleep better
We all know that getting a good night's sleep is key to helping us stay both physically and mentally healthy. We all have times when we are worried or anxious about something, and this can affect how we sleep. This can then often make the situation and/or us feel worse.
The Mental Health Foundation is a UK charity that supports people to help improve their own mental health. They have a guide to helping us improve our quality of sleep, and offer some solutions if you are struggling to get to sleep. The link to their website is here, and it is well worth a read.
The WSA are still looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help with organising enjoyable events such as fayres, discos, movie nights, and more. We also need assistance with initiatives like Healthy Tuck, Easter Raffles, and sales for Mother's and Father's Day.
Can you spare a little time to help us keep these activities vibrant for your children? If you’re interested in getting involved, please reach out to the school office. Your support is vital, and without it, we may struggle to continue these events. Thank you!
The WSA have the first of the WSA Discos coming up soon, the date for this is Tuesday, November the 12th. More information as we get closer to it!
