Three types of pollution
More than 15 million birds are killed by pollution a year! This is one of the reasons why pollution is bad for the earth. The three types of pollution are marine, air, and ground.
This is a beach that, has been packed with a lot of litter.
Some reasons why marine pollution is caused by oil spills, fertilizer, litter and, chemical spills. “Often these events have large impacts, but luckily, they occur less often.” ( U.S. Department of Commerce) Marine animals like sea turtles, seals, sea lions, fish, whales, dolphins and more, eat pollution in mistake thinking that it is food or they get stuck in the plastic. There was even a whale that washed up on shore with about 20 pounds of plastic in its stomach because of this about 100,000 sea animals die each year. A ton of small animals or even a lot whales can die from this. Even a single oil spill or a chemical spill can kill a lot of animals. These animals also die from plastic. This can be caused by people littering into marshes, streams, or the ocean. This litter can come from coastlines or inland areas.
Also, that of marine pollution comes from activities on land like littering, sewage, oil spills and more. Also, that debris ends up going into the ocean. All the litter can cause an algal bloom. Algal bloom can be really harmful to humans and animals because it can be really toxic. The algal bloom is made by the excess of nutrients.
The reason why air pollution is bad to inhale because inhaling air pollution can cause a greater chance of health problems such as lung cancer, lung disease, and asthma. This happens when you are exposed to ozone for up to 6 to 7 hours. Air pollution is made out of mixes of solid particles and gas in the air. That come from buses, airplanes, trucks, and cars.
Most of the air pollution can be poisonous. Which can lead to lung cancer or more lung disease. Some causes of air pollution are car emissions, factories, dust, pollen, and mold spores. “Indoor air pollution can be reduced by making sure that a building is well-ventilated and cleaned regularly to prevent the buildup of agents like dust and mold” (niehs.nih.gov). Ozone is a very common gas most found in the cites. Which also can be called smog.
This is a factory that has been sending a lot of bad gases into the air.
The reason why soil pollution is bad because soil pollution is made out of presence of toxic chemicals. “Soil pollution affects plants, animals and humans alike” (environmental pollution centers). This can come from ions and salts. High enough concentrations can pose risk to human health or even the ecosystem. The Causes of soil pollution are either man-made causes or natural causes. That gets into the soil and make's the soil toxic. Also, that human activities on land can also pollute the soil.
Soil with toxic chemicals can pose a problem. The effect of this may vary due to age. Children may be more at risk of diseases. They might be playing around in the ground and get sick due to this. Generally, this can cause health problems and might even cause it to lead to other factors. Therefore it is important to test your soil with a kit before your kids test it for you. Also if it is toxic try to find a person to fix it.
This is soil that has pollution in it.
These are some of the many reasons why air pollution, marine pollution, soil pollution and more are bad for the earth. Although we can help stop these pollutants by not littering, not using plastic as much, not going as much on boats, picking up trash, testing your soil in case it might get full of pollution, you could stop smoking if you do.
