Water pollution is a big problem that is caused by a lot of things. “Water and air, the two essential fluids on which all life depends, have become global garbage cans.” Jacques-Yves Cousteau). Water pollution is caused by a lot of things. It has a big impact on marine animals, but there are many solutions.
Human sewage causes water pollution because of all the trash and garbage that falls down drains that lead to the ocean along with rust that is on the sewage pipes. Rust is caused by oxygen that is contacted with water, rust causes water to stop flowing through the pipes, this happens all around the world. In the movie finding Nemo they say all pipes lead to the ocean this is highly not true therefore we would have a lot of problems with our oceans. Fertilizers cause water pollution because of how the Fertilizer falls into a drain pipe or even just a lake that can lead to water pollution from the manure in the fertilizer. Toxic chemicals can cause water pollution. More than 100,000 Toxic chemicals are used and some may enter the ocean through trucks.
Sometimes factories will allow chemicals to flow into the ocean, some chemicals are dumped at sea. Sometimes when farmers spray crops to protect them from the animal and bugs, that can go down into the soil and then fall into the rivers or streams and sometimes ends up in the ocean. Toxic chemicals can come from mankind. Water can absorb stuff very easily. The biggest threat to our oceans is man made pollution.
Oil spills are very dangerous for animals oil spills usually occur when a truck tips over spilling the oil and it flowing into a body of water that sometimes ends up in the ocean. When oil spills into the ocean it often stays on the surface sometimes causing it to spread from the wind. Whales, sea lions, dolphins, etc. they need to breath air so when they come up to the surface to get air they could get oil all over them, which could irritate their skin or eyes and could even cause sickness. It’s not healthy for the animals and it’s not healthy for us humans but we still do it. We drink water we die from drinking bad water just like our animals die from our pollution Toxic chemicals, Oil spills, plastics, bottles those are things that we made we use we are the biggest threat to our ocean animals. “The plastic thrown away since the 1950s will eventually form a layer sedimentary rock detectable by future generations” (independent.co.uk).
