Eric Carle Flowers (Collage)

Students will create 1 Collage inspired by Eric Carle. This will be a 5 day project. We will be creating artwork the same way that Eric Carle created his artwork for his stories and books..

• Fiction - Abstract - both use creativity and imagination.

• Collage - when other pieces of paper are cut or ripped and then glued to another sheet of paper to create a New Artwork.

• Layers - when things (like paper) are placed on top of each other.

• Overlap - When something (like paper) is placed partway on top of another piece of paper.

• Texture- how something feels or appears to feel different when looking at it.

Please view the Eric Carle slides and then watch the linked short video of Eric Carle. It briefly shows his process of creating the collage artwork for his books. He first paints papers with various colors and textures. He then cuts the desired shapes out and then glues them together to create his images.

Materials to be used: Pencil, paper, paint or color pencils or crayons, if they do not have paint.
