NOTE: This is a 2-Class project, students should not finish it today.Â
Projects will need to be collected and placed in a folder (A folder can be made from 12" x 18" color construction paper in the art storage room with the classroom teacher's name on it; one folder for each class.)
Students will be creating an Emoji of their own choice (Emojis do not have to be circles, they can be square shapes, etc. The Emoji should consist of emotions and facial expressions (students may benefit from being reminded of the Zones of Regulations for Feelings and Emotions)
First, Introduce the project.
Show the video below.
Hand students s sheet of paper from the bottom of the Art-Cart (the thinc paper is art paper and the thin white paper is for Free-Draws at the end of class if students finish early)
Then they will draw their Emojis with pencils.
Next, they will color-in the emoji they created with a color or colors that match the emotions of the emoji. Students may use Oil Crayons to color their Emojis.
Color the Background area of the Emoji Picture.
LAST, use the black oil crayon to outline and trace all of their original pencil lines (around the eyes, mouth, the shape of the emoji, et.)
NOTE: Closing Questions are at the very bottom of this page. And Example Emojis are at the bottom of this website page.
Students can be asked the questions at the beginning of the lesson/introduction.
What is an Emoji? a small picture that shows emotions.
What do Emojis of faces show? How you feel. Feelings, mood, emotions.
What are Facial Expressions? How your eyes, nose, and mouth look. Show emotions on your face.
Why would people use emojis instead of writing out how they feel? It's faster.
Please use the video below for a tutorial of the lesson.
I have included the lesson plan below the video if you would like to view it. It isn't necessary as I cover the whole project in the video.
NOTE: The closing Questions are at the very bottom of this page.
