We will be mixing paint with this project to create TINT colors and SHADE colors.
Who has ever mixed paint before?
Who has ever mixed WHITE with a color?
Who has ever mixed BLACK with a color?
What happens to those colors when you mix them?
The Ice Cream Sundae project will be a 4-class project exploring Tint Colors (light colors that can be made with paint by mixing white with a color to make it lighter) and Shade Colors (Dark colors that can be made with paint by mixing black with any color to make it darker).

Students will create 1 Ice Cream Sundae artwork. The project can be created with either paint or crayons (colored pencils)

Color Theory (Tint and Shade Colors)
- Tint - Tint Colors are lighter colors (light colors that can be made with paint by mixing white with a color to make it lighter).
- Shade - Shade Colors are darker colors (Dark colors that can be made with paint by mixing black with any color to make it darker).
Materials to be used: Pencil, paper, paint (if the young artist has it) or color pencils or crayons if they do not have paint.
