What is the Constitution of the United States?

The Constitution of the United States vests the power of the union in "We the People" and establishes the structure and powers of the government. It is the world's longest surviving written charter of government.

If you think the Constitution's language can be hard to understand, check out this interactive guide to the U.S. Constitution from Annenberg Classroom. It contains the original text AND a lay-language explanation of each article and amendment.

Play the game Race to Ratify from iCivics to see the Constitution become law or get kicked to the curb.
