College

Students And

The Census

Do I need to complete the census?

Yes. Everyone should be counted where they live and sleep most of the time; this means college students will complete the census themselves, and parents should not count any of their college students who live away from home. Tell them!

How will I receive the census?

The census will be delivered to your college mailing address. Be sure to check your mail. The census will not include your name; instead, it will be addressed to "Resident." It will include an overview of the census, options for language assistance, a unique ID number linked to your address, and the physical census form.

Once you receive your census, you can complete it on paper to drop in the US Mail, online, or by phone by using your unique census ID number.

Why is it so important?

The Census Bureau identifies college students as among the hardest to survey during census time. Let's not make it harder than it has to be.
