The Shattered Coast, or the Slots as it is sometimes called, covers the central portion of Dûnathel's northern coast, sandwiched between the Skyfang and Varanat mountain ranges. The area is scored by deep fjords that fragment into tall, narrow slot canyons, riddled with winding passageways and labyrinthine tunnels. The larger surface sections of the slots are fairly safe, posing little risk unless one falls off the edge, but the ebb and flow of the tides can make the fissures and caves quite perilous - one needs to be wary of the time to ensure they don't become trapped by the rising waters and potentially drowned. The winding passageways also play host to all sorts of predators both mundane and magical, who are happy to settle near areas frequented by seabirds.
The Shattered Coast has been largely uninhabited for much of history, only seeing residents temporarily fleeing there during the Age of Ashes, and taking up more permanent residence during the Crimson Sword Era. Since then, the area has made up a large portion of the Packlands Territory, serving as a summer home for the gnoll tribes there.
