Nilene is the goddess of storms, natural disasters, and chaos. Her symbols are x, x, and x, and she is also known as the Lady of Tempest. Nilene presides over all great acts of nature that decimate the land - destructive tidal waves, fierce winds and hail, tornadic storms, volcanic eruptions, long droughts, earthquakes, and wildfires are all under her domain. As the goddess of chaos, Nilene represents the force of entropy in the fate of the world, representing the random chance that saves one tower from a hurricane and fells another. Many pray to her for mercy during violent storms, but all know that Nilene's favor merely represents another chance to roll the dice on whether they are spared. She is seen almost more as a force of nature than a god to be worshiped, as she cares little to properly influence the forces of nature under her command.
Nilene typically appears as a towering, giant kobold with horns that fork like lightning and a voice that booms like thunder. Storm clouds flow around her sailfin, and it is said disasters strike wherever she sweeps her tail across the land. Sometimes Nilene carries coins, dice, cards, or knucklebones with her, to represent randomness, impartiality, and chance.
Temples to Nilene are commonplace on coastlines and across the plains in particular, places where storms are likely to batter the landscape with frequency. Often these temples double as shelters, with sturdy foundations and extensive basements where the devout stock food and water, so that those impacted by storms can have some relief. Some of Nilene's devout serve as volunteer rescue forces, traveling to ravaged towns to care for the needy and assist with rebuilding efforts. Others appeal to her chaotic nature, and wield her power as clerics and paladins in search of ways to introduce entropy in such a way as to topple longstanding regimes and long-held power, for good or ill. Others simply revel in the destructive power of the storm, and visit such forces upon their enemies with relish.
