The Lerovul Forest is a lush and damp tropical forest jutting out from the southwestern corner of mainland Altandor. Its position near the equator gives it rainy and dry seasons rather than the traditional four, the temperature rarely budging below what most would consider warm. The forest is bordered to the north by the Danthyl Mountains, to the west by the Helion Sea, and to the east by the Iothian Sea and Lillivene Bay. Numerous rivers and streams wind down from springs in the mountain before running throughout the forest and into the ocean, with Niarin River being the largest. The wet environment makes Lerovul Forest the perfect environment for a wide array of aquatic and semi-aquatic wildlife, as well as seemingly endless varieties of biting insects. Lerovul is a mostly peaceful locale, lacking in large predators that might threaten people settled in the region, and containing such an endless bounty of food that residents rarely fear starvation.
Lerovul Forest was largely avoided by ancient peoples in ages past due to the annoyance of biting and sometimes disease carrying insects, existing mainly as a place to venture in search of rare herbs and flowers if one was clever enough to avoid the insects or stubborn enough to go anyway. This changed with the arrival of a group of dragonborn tribes sometime prior to the Resurrection War. Having splintered off from the bulk of their population, they left the Kiebe Forest in search of a new home, and found familiarity in the Lerovul Forest. Dragonborn have little to fear from biting insects due to their thick scaled skin, so they happily settled the area and remain a strong presence there.
