The Luill Forest curves in a crescent shape around the waters holding Firemaw's Fangs, extending from the coast near the Lobrandr Hills and scattering across the Usuo Islands. It is a dense deciduous forest full of myriad plant life, thanks to the richness of the soil in the area. Even the shaded areas under the tree canopy are carpeted in soft green grass and moss. Many varieties of berry and woodland fungi can be found growing here, accessible by following the well-trodden paths of wildlife also seeking them.
The richness of the soil in the Luill Forest comes from minerals spread there by volcanic activity. In ages past, the Luil Forest covered much more ground, and held the Flameheart Volcano at its heart. When the Flameheart experienced a catastrophic eruption, the center of the forest was demolished and the ocean filled the crater left behind, and much of the plant life died in the pyroclastic flow or choked under the ash clouds. Greenery returned to the area near the end of the Age of Ashes, forming the Luill Forest as known by the civilizations after.
Proximity to the Firemaw's Fangs, and to the influence of their suspected connection to the fire plane, occasionally causes strange phenomena in the area. Sparks may rain from the sky, and motes of pale fire may dance through the trees. Occasionally the forest catches fire, but the environment is damp enough that it never burns far or for long.
