Physical Form
Humans as a species originate from the Byspell Plains, but their determined and adaptable nature has seen them spread to nearly every nook and cranny of Dûnathel. They are average in stature and lack any impressive natural weapons or noticeable adaptations, but they are hardy, stubborn, and willing to forge new paths and push through adversity wherever they go. Humans have a penchant for making their homes wherever strikes their fancy, be it large city, inhospitable wasteland, or the open range of a migration pattern, and their ambitions pave the way for others to join them as they forge new communities in untamed lands.
Human skin color ranges from very pale to a deep brown, typically dependent on where their ancestors originated from - those further north tend to be paler, and those further south tend to be darker, though exceptions exist. Their hair comes in a variety of colors, from black and brown to red and blond. Their eyes are most often brown, but blue, hazel, grey, and rarely green or gold eyes also exist.
Humans range in height from about 4'10" to 6'4" and in weight from 114-270 pounds. Males are typically taller and heavier.
Lifespan and Reproduction
A healthy human can expect to reach close to 90 years of age. They are considered preteens at 10, teens at 13, adults at 18, middle aged at 40, and elderly at 65.
Human pregnancies last about 9 months and typically yield a single child, with twins as a rarity. They have a fertile period roughly once a month.
Diet
Humans are omnivorous and can eat a wide variety of things, but they favor a mix of meat and grains supplemented by fruits and vegetables.
Notable Attributes and Abilities
Humans are largely unremarkable in terms of physical ability, yet they can hold their own against other races and monsters by virtue of persistent stubbornness and force of will, possibly supplemented by a greater pain tolerance than any other race. Humans brush off superficial wounds faster than normal, and may even push through debilitating injury if given a reason to fight. Much like orcs, they have a heightened reaction to adrenaline, which lets them fight harder when they are battered and cornered.
Aside from their will, a human's other strength is their adaptability. They readily pick up new skills that allow them to survive in new environments, allowing them to adjust to most any area of the world.

Races
Fellgotar (FELL-got-ar): the Fellgotar, or Fell for short, originate from the highest heights of the Skyfang Mountains. Their skin is pale, their hair is blond, red, or light brown and usually straight or wavy in texture, and their eyes are usually blue and rarely green. They tend to be quite tall, yet lightly built, as reach length and lighter weight make for easy navigation of the peaks.
Shaninth (SHAY-ninth): the Shaninth originate from the Byspell Plains, having remained in the birthplace of all humankind. Their skin comes in varying shades of brown, their hair is black or dark brown and straight in texture, and their eyes are almost always brown. They are average height and build among the human subtypes.
Tolkiri (tol-KEER-ie): the Tolkiri originate from the Southern Islands. Their skin is middling or dark brown, their hair is brown or black and typically curly, and their eyes are usually brown with the occasional blue. Tolkiri are built short and stocky, and can hold their breath better than the other subtypes of human.
Varan (VAIR-in): the Varan originate from the Dimlands, though it's theorized their ancestors were once Shaninth who descended underground during the Age of Ashes. Their skin is a pale or dusky brown, their hair starts black but fades to silver or white as they age, and their eyes are peculiarly pale blue or lavendar. They tend shorter in height and leaner in build, to better navigate subterranean realms.
Viderlyd (VID-er-lid): the Viderlyd originate from the Virie Basin Forest, where their dark brown skin tones serve not to protect them from the sun, but to camouflage them among the titanic trees. Their black hair is curly or coiled in texture, and their eyes are usually brown or green. They are the tallest of the human subtypes, and tend to be quite strong.
Zajara (zuh-JAR-uh): the Zajara originate from the Luill Forest. Their skin comes in varying shades of bronze, their hair is usually brown or black, occasionally with a red tint, and their eyes are usually brown or hazel. They tend to be petite and slim in build.
