You may use your choice of standard array, point buy, or rolling for your stats. If you roll for your stats and dislike the results, you may revert to using standard array or point buy. You may not attempt your stat roll again.
Regarding HP rolls at level up, you may either take the average HP increase as stated in the PHB, or you may roll for how much your HP increases. If you roll for HP you must use the result.
Your DM determines what your level will be at the start of the campaign as well as when subsequent levels occur. Every player's character has the same level, even if someone joins late or doesn't participate in some sessions. Proficiency bonus follows the chart found in the PHB.
Refer to the Player Species of Dûnathel article when selecting your species. Your species gives you two +1 bonuses to different stats, two major traits, and two minor traits. You will also find details regarding the likely range of height and weight as well as your species' lifespan.
Your speed is 30 ft unless otherwise noted.
Your background is meant to represent the unique circumstances your character comes from. You may select a background from the Standard Backgrounds article, or you may customize your background with DM approval. Your background comes with the following traits:
+1 to an ability score
2 skill proficiencies
2 miscellaneous proficiencies*
1 Fluent language
4 language points (refer to the Language Points article to learn how these work)
1 feat
A list of equipment
Additionally, you gain additional proficiencies equal to your intelligence modifier. These may be any combination of skill or miscellaneous proficiencies. If you increase your intelligence modifier when leveling up, you may choose another additional proficiency.
You may select any class and subclass from the Player's Handbook, Xanathar's Guide to Everything, or Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. Multiclassing is allowed with DM approval, as the DM may wish to set up events in-game that lead to you taking levels in a different class.
The following subclasses require reflavoring as their lore is not consistent with the world of Dûnathel: Rune Knight, Hexblade.
Expanded spell lists - in cases where TCoE or XGtE subclasses for a class receive an expanded spell list and the PHB subclasses do not, a suitable expanded spell list will be crafted for the PHB subclasses.
Fighters, barbarians, rogues, monks, rangers, and paladins receive new abilities as detailed here.
Check here for additional homebrew rules that may apply to your character.
*Miscellaneous proficiencies may be any one of the following: tool proficiency, vehicle proficiency, language points (2)
