"Kraidling" is a broad term referring to an individual born with extraplanar magic, which often influences their development as the grow and age. The most common origin for kraidlings is warlock parentage - a warlock's descendants will inherit their extra arcane core, and where a warlock that receives their extra core later in life will see minimal alterations to their physical form, a child that possesses one from the womb will be changed much more drastically. The size of the inherited core is somewhat random, leading to some disparity in appearance - one child may have only slight mutations, another more profound. Warlock's descendants are susceptible to their progenitor's extra magic for generations after, and tend to skip over some generations, much to the chagrin of seemingly normal parents who may suddenly find themselves with a kraidling child. It is possible, but rare and difficult, to become a kraidling later in life through certain rituals involving overexposure to extraplanar magic, but such rituals are dangerous, with the potential to kill the target even when done properly.
Kraidlings are usually born looking like normal babies of their species, but most begin to show signs of arcane mutation by the age of two. Skin and eye colors may shift, extra traits such as tails or horns may appear, and the first sparks of their magic begin to show. By age 6 their mutations mutations reach their fullest extent, and further growth is in line for the growth of a child into an adult. Kraidlings are capable of reproducing as would be normal for their Dûnan species, as genetically they are identical to a non-kraidling member of their same species.
Though kraidlings are not warlocks themselves, the archon that gifted magic to their warlock ancestor, or whose essence was imbued into them in one way or another, in nonetheless referred to as their patron.
Aasimar possess a celestial core. They are capable of producing magical light, performing minor healing magic, and the more powerful among them can summon the wings and halo of their patron to wield in battle. Aasimar are a common type of kraidling, typically appearing among the descendants of high ranking priests, who are most likely to forge warlock pacts with celestial archons. Such warlocks often start generational traditions of service to their church, so that their aasimar descendants can continue their legacy.
Aasimar appearance varies based on the type of celestial their patron was, but in predictable ways - protector aasimar have feathered features and glowing marks, scourge aasimar have dark bands across their eyes and around their wrists and ankles, and sentinel aasimar have horns and extra eyes. All types of aasimar have glowing pupilless eyes, often resembling molten metal, and ears that are forked into multiple points at the tips.
Eladrin possess a fey core. They are resistant to magical charms and sleep, see well in darkness, can teleport, and possess various other abilities based on their patron's season. Like fey, eladrin have a seasonal aspect, and that aspect may change due to strong emotions or radical life changes. Eladrin are quite rare, as fey are hard to find, and garnering enough favor to bargain for their magic is an exercise in interpreting their fickle whims and desires. Some fey require bold feats or hard labors as condition for their patronage, where others are bored enough to give it to the first person that makes contact with them. Most eladrin descend from people living near untamed wilderness, where the barrier between the Feywild and the material plane is the thinnest.
All eladrin possess the trademark spiral-pattern eyes of their fey patrons. Beyond that, appearance varies, but colored freckles, unusual hair colors, plant life growing from their skin, vestigial wings, and horns that appear wood-like in texture are commonly documented traits. As an eladrin changes seasons, their appearance might change as well, causing shifts in color, different vegetation, or new patterns on their wings or horns.
Genasi possess an elemental core matches the elemental type of their patron - air, water, earth, or fire. Like elementals, they can naturally cast spells associated with their element, and they resist damage and peril related to it as well. Genasi are a somewhat uncommon type of kraidling, as contacting an elemental archon can be a bit difficult, though many are agreeable bargaining for patronage. Genasi tend to descend from either scholars learned in the process of contacting other planes, or from common folk who stumble across the planar barrier and manage to stumble back.
Genasi appearance varies based on their element. Fire genasi may have red, orange, or coal-black skin, hair that burns when they become angry, and eyes that glow with a fire's light. Air genasi may have pale blue or grey skin, hair that float cloudlike about their head, and glowing white or cyan eyes, like stars or lightning. Water genasi may have blue or green skin and hair that shimmers like sunlight on the water. Earth genasi have tough textured skin that appears like bark or stone, and often scar in bright colors like geodes.

Tieflings possess a fiend core. Tiefling abilities vary widely based on their patron, but most have a natural ability to cast certain spells, are capable of seeing well in the dark, and are resistant to heat and fire. Tieflings as a whole are by far the most common type of kraidling post-Age of Terror, as the Scarlet Flame cult was obsessed with performing bloody rituals to transform into them, and then siring tiefling children. Many tieflings children were rescued from the cult at the end of the Demon War, and their widespread descendants are known as scarlet tieflings. Tieflings who are descended from warlocks are somewhat rare, as bargaining with fiends is an act of the mad, the obsessed, or the desperate.
Tieflings usually have unusual skin colors, tails, horns, and glowing pupilless eyes. Exact colors and traits vary widely depending on whether they are Abyssal, Infernal, or Lothic, and on what exact demon, devil, or yugoloth gifted their magic. Scarlet tieflings are Abyssal tieflings, and they possess red skin, glowing orange eyes, dark hair, and sharp spades on their tails.
