The Kiebe Forest is a large forest that covers much of south central Altandor. The northern most end is temperate deciduous forest, fading to to tropical rainforest further south towards the coast. The temperate forest end experiences the normal four seasons, while the tropical forest end has more of a rainy season and dry season. Sometimes the two setups overlap, sending uncharacteristic and short lived snow into the rainforest and dowsing the deciduous trees in endless rain. The trees are fairly dense in the Kiebe Forest, with only a handful of small clearings that have formed naturally. The Heledhuin River flows through the northern edge of the forest, and the Moriviir Caverns are found in the southwest section. The forest is bordered by the Erimead and Byspell Plains to the north, Talnora Plains to the east, and the Santhia cliffs to the south, with the west end of the forest approaching the shores of the Lillivene Bay.
Deep in the center of the forest is the epicenter of a wode, an area where the magic of the Feywild bleeds over in the material plane. The influence from this wode covers roughly a quarter of Kiebe Forest, radiating out from the epicenter. Continued exposure to fey magic has caused the flora to grow increasingly more wild closer to the circle. Colorful vines drape over trees, thick carpets of flowers coat the forest floor, and motes of glowing pollen float down through the air. The wildlife grows ever stranger here as well, with many creatures having developed magical properties and abilities that allow them to adapt to their environment in new ways. Feytouched predators may pose a threat to creatures much larger than they would normally pursue, sometimes including the people living in the region, making the wode lands as deadly as they are beautiful.
Kiebe is the point of origin for the elf, gnome, and dragonborn races. Elves and gnomes remain a strong presence here, with elves in particular viewing it as their ancestral home. The dragonborn migrated elsewhere at some point during the Age of Ashes, due to a combination of fleeing the ash clouds and being driven out by the remnants of Ivnearael. It has hosted several nations throughout the centuries, including the Ivnearael Empire of the Settling Era, Glymyar following the Iron Fang Era, and Amalar starting in the Age of Terror.
