This model is for you to analyse (identify/decide) on which of the four realms your event encompasses and how can you design your event to incorporate aspects of all four realms.
Pine & Gilmore's theory about the design of an experience focuses on four elements that an experience can contain. A distinction is made here between active or passive participation and absorbing or immersing.
The model is used to analyze an experience in relation to how much of each element is present in the experience. The centre of the model is called the "sweet spot". The model can be used to argue for how an experience could be better, and / or where and how the experience should be developed to, for example, be able to reach a new target group.
