Assembly chambers are special locations found on the faction capitols of Coruscant and Dromund Kaas where matrix shards gathered around the galaxy may be converted into special relics called matrix cubes. They also grant a codex entry the first time you visit them on each character.

Matrix cubes are assembled using matrix shards. There are twelve matrix shards available to each character, three of each color. Matrix shards may be assembled in the assembly chambers on either Coruscant (Republic) or Dromund Kaas (Empire) into matrix cubes. Matrix cubes occupy a relic slot and you may have a maximum of two equipped. At game launch these added a substantial bonus to primary, secondary, and tertiary stats, however later patches have not added additional attributes to matrix cubes and their current utility is almost nonexistent beyond unlocking codex entries.
Matrix cubes may be crafted by selecting available shard colors from the three shard input panels. Once shards have been input the matrix cube assembler can be utilized, and selecting YES will consolidate the three matrix shards into one of the matrix cubes discussed below.
M2 matrix cubes are the most basic matrix cubes available, with the lowest attribute stats. Characters at, or above, level fifteen are able to equip these matrix cubes.

M7 matrix cubes are the fourth and final tier of matrix cubes available, with high attribute stats, although they are still subpar to current best in slot gear. Characters at, or above, level fifty are able to equip these matrix cubes. These cubes require three of a color matrix shard, and there are slight differences in stats based on if you character is a Force or Tech class which harkens to a time when mastery was divided between four primary stats.

Reconfigured Disassembler Core
Burned Out Disassembler Core
If, at any point, you decide that you no longer want to use your matrix cube, and want to revert it back into matrix shards, or need to revert one so you can craft a higher tier matrix cube, you may do using the matrix cube disassembler in the assembly chamber. However, clicking on the disassembler will result in an announcement that the machine is missing a power core. To power and activate the disassembler you must purchase a single use reconfigured disassembler core from a Jawa merchant on Tatooine for 8,000 credits. After dissasembling a matrix cube your reconfigured disassembler core will be replaced by a burned out disassembler core junk item which can be sold for 50 credits.
