Vetipek trees are a common plant originating from the northern polar region of Xebrik. They bear a small amount of fruit called veti, which are a popular snack among the Bektepi Kepek. It's not uncommon for Bektepi families to have a family Vetipek tree that grows in the yards of the family housing complex. Whoever gets the first fruit of the season from the top of the tree will bring good luck to themselves and the family, particularly their direct family (mainly parents, siblings and children).
Once common in the northern polar region of the Kepek homeworld, A small population of Vetipek seeds were salvaged and grown on both the Bektep Space Station and on the Vax'bakrud Beta Station, specifically in the station's Lost Stellar Gardens. This small population was enough to save the species, and now they are a common site in the homes of Bektepi families.
Vetipek trees were grown traditionally as a steady source of food. While they do not produce a lot of fruit at once, usually only 6 at a time, the fruit can be replaced rapidly. Once one is picked, it will usually regrow within a few days to a week. This made them excellent food sources once, and now many keep them as a reminder of where the Kepek came from, a connection to their lost home.
Veti is a type of fruit that grows on Vetipek trees, or rather a cluster of fruits at both the top and bottom of the tree, inside the large spirals the trunks form. Veti specifically refers to the entire cluster, while Veti-Berries refers to the individual fruit. The "berries" are small and yellow-orange in colour. They grow in clusters of several hundred contained within a red skin resembling honeycomb.
