The Eburanu are from the planet Osefura in the Eura-Solen System. They are actually a combination of two separate species, the Ebura and Velanu, who have a symbiotic relationship with one another. When combined, they refer to themselves as the Eburanu.
The two species that make up the Eberanu evolved together and are completely dependent on one another for survival. The Ebura attach themselves to a Velanu host shortly after they are both born, and from that moment on, the two creatures consider themselves one being and share a bond few others in the universe could comprehend.
The Ebura usually envelopes one of the Velanu's arms and replaces it, breaking down and digesting the limb in question. This process, despite how it sounds, doesn't cause the Velanu host any harm or pain. The two then meld their consciousnesses together, becoming one mind, and the Ebura will develop "roots" to help reduce the risk of it being torn off. The Ebura have a potent venom in their claws, and are significantly stronger than the velanu's arm they replaced, giving the velanu a much better chance of defending itself in its hostile home environment. In return, the velanu shares nurturance with the ebura and provides it a safer, more permanent home for it. Over time the velanu ended up loosing their own mouths (previously located atop their heads) due to an evolutionary quirk. This meant that the ebura was now responsible for eating food through the mouth located on their palm, and the velanu would do the work of digesting it. This freed up space in the velanu's head for a larger brain and a higher level of intelligence, ultimately sparking the Eburanu's first steps towards true sentience.

If the ebura dies or is forcibly removed from it's velanu host, both will usually die in a manner of hours (both from the injuries the separation will inevitably cause, and the fact that their digestive tracks are connected), however, there have been a few rare cases where, after a velanu host was killed, the ebura was able to survive by attaching to a new host - and that new host does not need to be another velanu. There are a few cases of a Kepek who willingly take on the ebura and bond together. This does not go as smoothly as it does for a velanu host, as the Kepek's bodies are not designed to be able to accommodate the addition, and they can never truly connect mentally in the same way the ebura and velanu do, but it will usually keep them alive. It is worth noting however, that the grief from loosing their bonded partner is an awfully difficult thing to deal with, even if they are physically safe, and the rapid influx of the emotion from the ebura can often be quite traumatic for the Kepek host as well, but if both survive the initial shock and trauma of it all, they are able to live quite happily together.
The mental bond between the bonded Eberanu is extremely difficult to conceptualise for other creatures. While they do (according to the Eburanu) share a consciousness, they still retain separate personalities. Usually, the ebura and velanu will have names of their own, and then a shared name to refer to themselves as when talking to others, usually a hybridisation of the two names. Even their species name reflects this. Despite this, they do think, move and act as one creature, and are constantly aware of their bonded partner's thoughts.
Eberanu anatomy is unusual and can vary depending on how the Ebura and Velanu connect. Some things, however, remain consistent.
The larger of the two, the Velanu is considered the host organism. They are large, mamalian creatures with 4 legs and 2 arms. Their 4 legs attach to their lower body, which contains most of their internal organs. They have an upright torso that stands above their lower bodies, which their arms are attached to, and finally, a large head with 5 eyes and two large ears. Their now vestigial mouths can be seen in the plates atop their heads which are now fused together, providing extra protection to their large brains.
The Ebura are much simpler organisms. Their overall shape can change, but they usually resemble a claw-like hand and arm or foot and leg. their talons hold a potent venom, and a mouth can be found in the palm of their "hand" or on the base of their "feet". This mouth connects directly with the Velanu's digestive system.
