1.)  Prayers

Parents: Along with the Sacraments, praying is an important and integral part of the Christian lifestyle. Without prayer the soul becomes weakened. The grace received in the sacraments are a constant invitation from God for the soul to be united to Him. This invitation must be answered continually. It is answered by the soul throughout the day with a devotion to  prayer.[1] God is asking for a few minutes every morning, mid-day and evening.

Student:  Prayer is having a conversation with God. In a conversation you talk but you must also listen. You listen with your hearts to hear what he wants you to do. You speak with God when you pray. Learning to pray and praying every day is important because God listens all the time. God has given you and everyone the important gift of life and many other gifts. When you pray it becomes a way to thank God and ask for help and guidance.

Learning about Jesus is important. Jesus is God who came down to Earth to help all people. Jesus came so that everyone including you can have friendship with God. When Jesus was here, he had many followers. His closest followers were called Apostles and Disciples. One time, He told them that with faith they could move mountains.[2] Faith is trusting in God. One way to show and practice your faith in God is to pray.

[2] Matthew 17:20

What is Prayer?

Prayer is lifting our minds and hearts to God; a conversation with God.

Prayer for Christians is a gift from God which allows you to approach Him and have a relationship with Him. Prayer can be compared with the idea of talking to someone you know or who you just met. For example, a new person at school you just met. They walk over and start talking with you. Soon you know a few things about them. Then you meet them again at school or some other public place and talk more and more. Soon you become friends. When friends get together, they talk about many things and listen to each other.

In your Prayer dialogue with God. God Listens and responds, because God wants to be your friend. But God wants to be more than a friend. He wants to help you become Holy so you can get to heaven. No one else can get you into heaven. So, he is the most wonderful friend to have for your entire life.

How do we talk with God? We talk to God through Prayer!

How do we get closer to God? We get closer to God through the Sacraments!

You need the Sacraments and prayer have a life with God. Going to mass is extremely important. Daily prayer is important as well. You should pray every morning, afternoon and evening. Really? Yes! Here is what the Bible says;

From the rising of the sun to its setting let the name of the LORD be praised.   Psalm 113:3
