Road Safety

Either attend or take part in the Shell Traffic Games at the Road Safety Park

• Identify at least 10 traffic signs
• Know how to behave as a pedestrian, cyclist or driver
• Know how to walk safely on roads with no footpaths and have knowledge of the unsafe and discourteous acts
• Know how to cross the road safely and how to use zebra-crossing and railway-crossings
• Know the dangers of crossing the road

or complete all of the following activities:

1. Demonstrate the use of a public telephone and know how to make an emergency telephone call.
2. Know how to behave safely as a passenger in a car.
3. Make a poster to promote road safety to pedestrians.
4. Personal assignment:
   • Draw a sketch map of a road with at least 2 traffic signs. Name the road and signs used and why they are used.
   • Keep a scrap book of accident articles and photographs published in the local newspaper.
