Communicator

Complete the following:

1. Demonstrate how to use a private and public telephone and if possible, use a phone card.
2. Know how to make an emergency telephone call.

Complete any 3 activities:

1. Find out about and make use of at least 2 of the following:
   • FAX
   • answering machine
   • walkie talkie
   • teletext
   • cellular phone
   • email
   • Citizen band radio
   • any other communication system
2. Make a verbal or taped report of a local event either past or present.
3. Write and decipher 3 simple messages using codes, ciphers or invisible ink.
4. Hold a simple conversation in another language.
5. Make and maintain a link with another Cub Scout Pack using tapes, videos, letters etc.
6. Find out how other people with visual or hearing impairment communicate (e.g. Braille, sign language).
7. Memorise a passage and deliver it 20 minutes later.
8. Pass a message to someone else using Amateur Radio or send an SMS using a handphone.
9. Find out about the 3G or 4G (LTE) network and explain, in your own words, how it works to transmit data wirelessly.
