Life Saver

Passed SwimSafer Stage 5 or Silver Award (Singapore Swimming Academy/Singapore Sports Council/Swimming Teachers Association) allows exemption from items 1 to 3.
Passed Lifesaving 1, 2, 3 Awards or higher (Singapore Life Saving Society) will qualify for this Proficiency Badge.

Hold the Swimmer (Silver) proficiency badge
Swim 100m continuously in any strokes
Swim 50m continuously with shirt and short and with your arms folded on the chest:
- first 25m swim by any stroke other than the back stroke, using only your legs
- second 25m swim on the back must show ability to change direction
Explain the following:
- Common drowning situations and how to prevent them
- How to identify persons in the water who need assistance
- The order of methods in water rescue
- How rescue techniques vary depending on the setting and the condition of the person needing assistance
- Situations for which in-water rescues should not be undertaken
Explain how to escape from a victim's grasp on your wrist while attempting a rescue in deep water
Demonstrate correctly the mouth-to-mouth expired air resuscitation
Show how to reach out to a non-swimmer fallen into water using at least 2 non-direct contact methods of rescue.
List at least 5 basic water safety rules.
