Northgate Hotel
An article dated 1916 in the Cleckheaton Guardian states that the Northgate now stands where a couple of cottage houses once stood. These were used as a beer house called the Carriage & Pair. The article continues to state that in the 1840's a Betty Gibson was proprietor and afterwards it was taken on by John "Johnny" Oade, who was one of the local carriers.
See the Carriage & Pair for earlier entries.
