Vicars

From the opening in 1877, the church was overseen by the vicars of Whitechapel. It wasn't until 1929 that the church had it's own vicar.

1929 - 1934: Wallace Victor Willis

Born 7 Oct 1887 in London. Left Scholes to take over as vicar at Hemingford Grey in the diocese of Ely. Died 25 Mar 1949 at Huntingdon.

1934 - 1944: Edmund George Nightingale

Born abt 1870 in Northampton. Died 20 Jan 1944 at Scholes. Began his working career in the teaching arena and progressing to head master of Holmfirth National School in 1895. In 1898 he took up post as head master of Halifax Parish Church School where he remained in post for next 32 tears. He was ordained in 1931 and took up duties at St. Paul, King Cross, Halifax. He moved to Scholes in 1934

1944 - 1955: Geoffrey Hackett

Born 3 Oct 1908 in Bideford, Devon. Was previously curate at Sowerby Bridge, Heckmondwike and Monk Bretton. Died 1985 in Cleveland.

1955 - 1960: Harold Nicholls

Born 8 Dec 1902 at Bridlington. Previously an assistant curate at St. Peter, Morley. Left Scholes to become vicar of St. Paul, Sculcoates. Died 4 Sep 1974 at Bridlington.

1961 - 1972: James Mellors

Inducted 14 Jun 1961.

1972 - : David Wilding

Inducted 24 Jul 1972. Very much a local historian and published two booklets on the history of Scholes; From Scales to Scholes and Scales to Scholes Revisited.
