In January, Bectu surveyed workers in film & TV on Covid safety measures. To monitor progress, we’re doing it again – please complete this survey and forward it to as many of your colleagues as you can? https://forms.gle/AhmQCU9kjnY7c5xi8
In some cases, in January, we were told that employers and colleagues were doing really well and taking the issue very seriously. But in other cases, results were a bit more mixed with some members reporting….
ineffective Covid supervision and application of rules – often overseen by supervisors with insufficient authority
poor management attitudes with lots of poor working practices being ignored
poor attitudes among colleagues with a lack of mutual support for each other from people who have safety concerns
insufficiently stringent testing
poor management of cases where workers did test positive, or where workers reported illnesses
unfair management attitudes to payment and job-security when productions are disrupted by coronavirus.
We shared your concerns with the employers organisation, Pact, and they agreed that improvements were needed in cases like this. Unsafe working not only threatens lives and health – it also puts everyone’s jobs at risk.
The union issued a joint statement with Pact on the 4th February and we promised to do the same survey again – this time.

These reports are particularly concerning in light of the increased levels of contagion. To help us understand the situation, we need a clearer picture of what's happening where you work. You can help us with this by completing this short, anonymous survey.
You do NOT need to be a member to take this survey and all answers will help us understand ...
are rules being applied properly or is there much non-compliance in the industry?
are there individual cases of bad Covid-19 related management on particular productions?
are you concerned that the guidelines are being followed but the guidelines need changing?
