You have 4 Formations to choose from: Regular, FG, Punt, and Kickoff. You must select a formation the instant that you see the offense or special teams unit coming onto the field. On 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Downs, you should already be in Regular before the Offense gets into formation/breaks the huddle
Regular - ANY formation that is not FG, Punt, or Kickoff. Do not overthink this. Unlike the football assessment, shotgun and under center are not relevant data points for us
FG - When the offensive team lines up for a Field Goal. This DOES NOT include Extra Points/PATs. That formation/workflow is triggered automatically after a TD is scored
Punt - When the offense lines up in a punt formation. This ALSO includes quick kicks/pooch punts from the QB
Kickoff - When the offense lines up in a Kickoff Formation. You will likely use this once per game for the 2nd half Kickoff. You will most likely need to adjust the yard line manually by editing the Field Map and confirming that the correct team is kicking off. Failing to do either of these things will result in an automatic Major Error
Just like in scouting, speed is a critical factor for us, particularly when identifying yard lines. As soon as the ball carrier is tackled/pushed out of bounds, you will need to select the yard line he advanced to
Even if it is wrong, you MUST tap the yard line on the yardage scroller that it looks like he reached, wait for the official spot from the referee, and then confirm or change if necessary
DO NOT confirm the yard line until the ball is spotted by the official. But it is paramount that we get at least an approximate yard line as soon as possible. You should have a preliminary yard line on most plays
If the yard line is highlighted in yellow, that does NOT mean preliminary. A yellow box does not send any information; it is a safeguard to prevent accidental taps when scrolling
The box MUST be highlighted green for it to be recorded. You must tap twice on a yard line, whether it is preliminary OR official

Completed Pass
This is the flow for any completed forward pass
Incomplete Pass
Incomplete passes (which include all throwaways) will not have any player attribution or yardage selector screens
Intentional Grounding is a special case
QB Scramble
Yes, a scramble is technically a rush. However, you cannot have a scramble unless the play was intended to be a pass. Therefore, you can only select QB Scramble AFTER identifying the play as a pass
Sack
Statistically (in NCAA football), a sack counts as negative rushing yards for the passer. Therefore, we are going to chart all sacks as QB Scrambles for negative yards
Standard Run
This includes Options, Reverses, End Arounds, Tosses, etc.
Designed QB Run
For our purposes, this is just a Rush
A QB running is NOT automatically a scramble. If the play was designed to be a run, we will enter it as a standard rush
QB Kneel
QB Kneel is ALWAYS a TEAM rush. Therefore, the player attribution will ALWAYS be Other. No matter what
This will be entered in Banjo as any other standard run play
Broken Play
Don't get thrown off by the chaos of football. If things break down quickly for the offense, but they maintain possession and try to advance the ball, we will enter the play as it happens
