Advancing the ball past the yard to gain (1st down line) on the yardage scroller will automatically trigger a 1st down on the Confirmation screen
As a result, there is no 1st down box to check
Plays that are close to the first down line must be indicated by checking the yellow box close 1st alert in the middle of the screen above the yardage scroller. You MUST click this first before entering a yardage on the yardage scroller
Anytime a runner is tackled near the first down line (the most common instance will be short-yardage run plays), this box needs to be toggled
Toggling this will not affect any 1st down functionality, thus it must be used regardless of whether the play results in a 1st down or not
The blue score alert in the middle left box above the yardage scroller is used to indicate that there IS or COULD be a TD
Whether or not the play results in a TD is irrelevant. If it looks like there could be a TD from 1 yard out or 60 yards out, tap this immediately
The score alert does NOT automatically trigger a TD, so leaving it checked when advancing the ball carrier to the 1-yard line is completely fine
A TD cannot be scored/triggered unless the ball is advanced to the defense's 0-yard line. That said, Every Touchdown MUST have a Score Alert, and it should be toggled before selecting the 0-yard line
Similar to the Close 1st Down alert, you may need to utilize the score alert multiple plays in a row on short-yardage plays near the goal line
You will also need to use this on plays with a Safety. It is not needed (or possible) on FGs or PATs
