Okay now we’re REALLY breaking the mold right now. I guess this is just the official transition for the site, as now I just wanna write about whatever I want to at the time, and at this time, I wanna go off on STRANGER THINGS.
One more thing I should probably clarify, that this is a test to see if the more casual writing is more suitable for something like this. Before, I always wrote like it was for some English class or something, so now, I’m trying a more casual, laid back, type-whatever-comes-to-mind-and-hope-it-sticks kinda vibe yknow.
Anyways STRANGER THINGS.
For those who don’t know aka have been living under a rock, Stranger Things is a Netflix original series that focuses on Hawkins and a mysterious evil world that terrorizes our protagonists Mike Wheeler, Lucas Sinclair, Dustin Henderson, and Will Byers. Along the way, they meet a runaway girl named Eleven, and she possesses telekinetic powers. There are also a bunch of other characters who are related to the main four, and are all tied into the central plot and mystery to the series, and they’re all so lovable, and so fun to see them interact with.
Generally speaking, outside of Stranger Things 3, the whole selling point of the show is the cast of characters. Netflix somehow took the biggest dub ever with these kid actors, because they are what make Stranger Things, and what practically gives the show its identity. Plus, when the show started, the kids were preteens. Now in Season 3, they’re full-on teenagers, so having the show mature and grow up with the kids is a neat thing as well.
I realize that this was meant to be solely on Stranger Things 3 alone, and trust me, I’ll get to 3 specifically in a bit probably, but one more thing that I really like about the show is that it streamlines the horror genre for a wider audience, while also appealing to the die-hard horror fans. The series manages to appeal to a casual audience with a story that is simple to follow, but can be evaluated for theories and context. On the flip side, it also manages to appeal to the horror fans, where the show takes elements from different horror media, and puts its own Stranger Things vibe to it. I find that to be very praiseworthy, and is definitely another reason for its pop culture success. Anyone can watch Stranger Things and have a blast with it.
Okay for real now, here’s the nitty gritty for Stranger Things 3. Also, spoilers, I think?
Starting off, I think Stranger Things 3 is the best season so far. I personally feel that the identity and energy Stranger Things gives its views is on full blast here, but what makes it better than all the other seasons IMO is how it goes above and beyond in multiple aspects of the show, and also breaks the mold that it has established on itself. What I mean by that is that there are some things that happen in Stranger Things 3 that you most likely wouldn’t expect from Stranger Things. For me at least, a prime example of this was the gore. This season was a lot GORIER than I was expecting. Stranger Things is a show that leans towards a younger audience I’d say, since the main cast are preteens to teenagers. In addition, there’s also the appeal to a causal audience that I mentioned before, since it’s easy to follow, and it’s a Netflix show, of course it’ll appeal to causals. A lot of these examples happen later on in the season, so I won’t go into details as to what happens, but just know that it may catch you off guard.
On top of Stranger Things breaking its own mold and trying new and different things for the show, the season is just an absolute blast to watch. The 80s vibes are there and in full force, the story is interesting and will constantly leave you on the edge of your seat, the character interactions are the funniest and emotional they have ever been, the MUSIC OH MY GOD THEY COOKED IT UP IN THE STUDIO, etc. Everything about not just Stranger Things 3, but the whole series is just an absolute enjoyable and memorable experience. Go watch Stranger Things right now cowards. And if you don’t want to watch it because it’s one of the most popular shows out there, I’m sorry but there’s something wrong with you LOL.
