Mortal Kombat 11's story mode was already set a new standard when it came to a fighting game's narrative, but Mortal Kombat 11's first expansion to the story, named MK11: Aftermath, simply enhances the already great story, into a must play for any and all Mortal Kombat fans.
With 6 new chapters, MK11: Aftermath takes place after the main story of MK11. Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, and Fujin emerge from their imprisonment in the void, after Kronika placed them there in the first place, it's up to them, and Fire God Liu Kang to fix all broken timelines by retrieving Kronika's crown, after it was destroyed in the final boss of MK11's main story by Liu Kang.
Now to be fair, the ending to MK11 didn't really need to be expanded, but the extra chapters do add in the DLC characters from Kombat Pack 1, and the Aftermath characters, which do offer more character interactions and references to their past, which is a nice thing to add to an already great story mode for the longtime fans of the MK universe. I have been praising the MK11: Aftermath up until now, but if I had to complain about one thing in this expansion, it's that the ending is pretty predictable. I won't go into any spoilers of course, but don't be surprised if that inkling you have comes true.
Other than that, everything else in the expansion is great! Sheeva, Fujin, and Robocop are all super fun to play. The stage fatalities, while very minimal, are a nice addition, and the friendships are probably the best addition to come from this update. Overall, this expansion is well worth your time.
