It's safe to say that Beat Saber is one of, if not, the best VR games to grace this planet.
Rhythm games can be a hard genre of gaming to master. You'll need something to stand out from it to make it special and separates itself from other games in the genre. Rhythm Heaven does this with its unique art style, Dark Witch Music Episode: Rudymical does this with battling incorporated in it, the Hatsune Miku games with the on-rails style rhythm gameplay, and many more succeed with catchy music, great difficulty, and much more. If you can't tell, rhythm games are one of my favorite genres of games, because of how bopping the music can be, its great endurance with needing to master a base skill to beat harder challenges, and of course, nostalgic value too. When I first heard and saw gameplay of Beat Saber, I was immediately intrigued with it staying true to the rhythm game formula of memorizing different patterns to beat a level, but introduces a new means of memorize, that being muscle memory.
With muscle memorization in the mix, this adds a new challenge to the game, as that endurance I mentioned earlier isn't just with moving your thumbs to the right areas of the controller at the right time. Now, it's your whole body, needing to remember where to duck, lean, swing your arms, etc. This added challenge to the base rhythm game difficulty is what makes Beat Saber so much fun. The satisfying feeling of cutting blocks in half, to the beat, and on expert difficulty? Hours and hours of time has been put into Beat Saber, and I can't ever get enough of this game I tell you.
I haven't even mentioned this game's soundtrack, my GOD. The base game's soundtrack is already great as it is, mixing with the neon lights and aesthetic this game is definitely known for. But with the crossover music packs, like the Rocket League and Green Day packs is my favorite part of this game, as each one offers unique settings to play in, and they are simply super fun. In addition to player made levels, this game's soundtrack is technically the best there is, as you could player Persona 5 songs too ;)
I can't recommend this game more than I already am. If you have a VR headset of any type, this is a must have.
