Life is Strange has always had high regards and mad respect from me. Both the first game and its prequel have both stunned me with their amazing story telling, memorable characters, emotional music, and so much more. Now that Life is Strange knows what its audience likes and appreciates, it’s no surprise to see that Life is Strange 2 takes everything from the previous games, and makes it an even more engaging and heartfelt game.
Life is Strange 2 follows two brothers who are forced to leave their home and flee down to Mexico after unforeseen circumstances. Along the way, they encounter lovable characters, as well as disgusting characters that you will despise during your playthrough. Without going into too much detail, I personally found the story of Life is Strange 2 to be extremely compelling. It calls to so many people due to its brotherly premise. Even those without younger brothers can still find ways to relate to our two protagonists. It’s fantastic, and makes me debate if I find this story to be grander than the previous two games.
For the remainder of this, I want to try my best at explaining if I think this game is better than Life is Strange 1, or vise versa, since there isn’t much else to praise about Life is Strange 2. You already know the game will have a great story, score, setting, characters, vibes, all of that.
So, to start, I don’t think one game has an edge on the other. Both games are phenomenal, and if you enjoyed one game, and haven’t played the other, you will find yourself loving it as well. In the end, I just feel like it’s up to preference, much like deciding what the best Final Fantasy is, or what the best Xenoblade is. Both games have such amazing elements, it’s difficult to decide which one is definitively better. Sure, you can look at review scores, but even on sites like Metacritic, its close to a tie. I could take a deeper dive into each game and look at each episode on their own, and compare the games from there, but then that would defeat the purpose of this blog.
To end this review as per usual, I will leave you with this. Life is Strange 2 is a great game that everyone that loves a good story in their games, and if you aren’t interested, give the first episode a shot, as its free on all platforms. It’ll be worth your time.
