I beat Pokémon Shield yesterday, and there is WAY too much to talk about, so I’ll try to hit all of the key points about the game to keep this fairly short.
In short, this is a super fun game. I really enjoyed my time with Gen 8. I loved everything they introduced into SWSH, with quality of life fixes, the new Pokémon, the new characters, the Galar reign feeling super alive with the roaming Pokemon, not to mention the Wild Area might be my favorite addition. With connecting to online, seeing all of these Trainers and Pokemon roaming around with this epic and adventurous music blasting into your eardrums, that is what makes the Wild Area my favorite addition to SWSH.
My only complaints is that the music, while having some MAJOR BOPS (gym leader themes, champion theme, legendaries, etc.), everything else was just okay. Nothing special, but still overall good.
Now while I’m talking about complaints, I’ll talk about my stance on the National Dex. So I was informed this is the lowest number of Pokémon in a game or whatever, but to me, since the region of Galar feels so alive and immersive, you don’t even notice how few Pokémon there are. The Pokémon they picked too in SWSH is great nonetheless. And can you imagine catching all 890 Pokemon in a single game? Actually now that I type that out, that sounds kinda sick ngl.
So yeah Pokémon Sword and Shield are amazing games, and is definitely up there in tier list of Pokémon games. Not as good as Gen 5, but better than Let’s Go, that’s for sure.
