Persona 4: Dancing All Night is a great rhythm game, and that's about it. As much as I loved Persona 4 Golden, Dancing All Night was such a mixed bag that I don't really know a word to describe it.
First of all, the good in Dancing All Night. Of course, since it's a rhythm game, the soundtrack is fantastic. So many good bangers from Persona 4 and P4 Golden, and realy shows the love for P4's soundtrack as a whole. Also, I should point out that I was able to play the PS4 port of Dancing All Night, and I've got to say, since Persona 4 is about 11-12 years old, it was great seeing this lovable cast in 1080p, instead of being restricted to either a PS2 or PS Vita screen.
Now on the downside, the story mode was pretty mediocre. Idk what I was expecting from a story mode in a rhythm game, but it felt a lot more drawn out than it needed to be, and just wasn't all that engaging. Maybe the reason for why I expected more from the story mode was because I played Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight before Dancing All Night. While that didn't have a story mode, the character interations felt mroe compelling than the whole story of Dancing All Night.
Overall, this is still a great rhythm game with loads of fun to be had. Yeah, the story mode was mediocre, but again, this is a rhythm game we're talking about, so they get a pass for the story mode. Not only fans of Persona will enjoy this, but I'd say rhythm game junkies should give this a go too. They wouldn't get many references and bonds with the Investigation Team, but with the songs and gameplay alone, it's a blast.
