The Blades in the Dark

Did you receive a blackmail letter two days ago from a cloaked individual? Did a bag of gold coins appear on your bed with a small note that said where you should be at what time? Is a rival business doing just slightly better than you? This may be the work of Clan Eshen. The most secretive of all Clans. Those in Eshen believe in the power of obscurity. Often they seem like normal individuals, they do not often advertise that they are Yohei, or a Yohei clan. The only reason they are known about in the modern day is because of the Great Clan Wars of yonder. Those in Eshen tend to be secretive, manipulative, and have no low that they will not stoop to in order to achieve their goals. After all the ends justify the means. Clan Eshen works primarily out of Higashi and finds their powerbase there.

Founding of Clan Eshen:

The scratching of the walls. The nails on the chalkboard. The rap tap tap on the mind. These are the sensations that forced madness to seep into the mind of the founder of Eshen. His name and race were lost to time, secrets buried with those that knew them. The Founding of Clan Eshen was a dark thing, something only ancient scrolls tell of today. All that was known of the Founder were his words that became the clan motto.

There was no such thing as a fair fight, all vulnerabilities must be exploited.

Officer Test:

In order for an Eshen soldier to become an officer they must find a way to become an officer. Unlike other clans Eshen values ingenuity and creativeness in its higher ranking members, and as such gives them no clear way to advance, instead relying on the abilities of those who wish to move upwards to come up with something worthy of it. Although this usually just involves a Soldier blackmailing the ever loving shit out of an Officer or Lieutenant.

Lieutenant Test:

Shadows and secrets are prized above all else. Subsequently in order to become a Lieutenant one must discover that which is not want to be known. They must find a secret of a current Captain or Lieutenant, and approach the said individual and reveal that they know. Upon doing so, they are granted the rank of Lieutenant.

Captain Test:

Similar to the way of Clan Shiva, Clan Eshen values strength when it serves the greater whole. brutality without purpose is wastefulness, and wastefulness is hated among Clan Eshen. In order to become a Captain, one must remove a Captain. If there are no Captains to remove... Well there are plenty of Daimyo available.
