Communication is done by finding a mirror and reaching out to the astral plane with the persons name in mind. Upon doing so the Yohei you are attempting to contact gets a ping that sounds exactly like the discord notification sound. The recipient then knows that either a message is waiting for them or someone hands to hold an active conversation.

Another form of communication is kept secret by the Clans and the Yohei in general. Upon achieving Shikai they are able to send a fragment of their Honzen out to connect to another's Honzen, facilitating communication in a connected mental pseudo-space. Scholars refer to this phenomena as Astral Communication.

While the entire setting is based on, and around, Feudal Japan and its culture, there are a near infinite amount of smaller islands. Remember that the amount of landmass we're working with is the same as the current amount of land on the face of the planet circa 2020. This means that there are, yes, viking cultures, Swedish cultures, Gaelic cultures, etc spread throughout the land. The reason there is no map is to allow you to have a certain amount of flexibility in character creation.
