Vrindavan- Mathura

Serving Widows & Destitute Mata's of the Mahila Ashraya Sadan

Mahila Ashraya Sadan is a Home where Sir had taken us during the Walk and also the place where, by his blessings floral project is running. There are 350 maatas. Since the lockdown has lead to challenges across the world, it is no different for the Maatas. Realised that food and ration was supplied to them but the ashram which used to provide tea in the evening stopped after the lockdown got announced.

Hence from 2nd April onwards we started serving tea and biscuits, twice a day morning (8am) and evening (3pm). We will continue to serve them during the lockdown period and God's willing even beyond.

During the first & second phase of lockdown, we have distributed:

  • 21700 cups of tea

  • 7500 packets of biscuit

  • 7500 pieces of rusk

We are continuing with the distribution in phase three during the lockdown period and God willing even beyond.

Distribution of Home Made Masks

During this pandemic period wherein we are facing challenges in terms of health and finance, we have started making and distributing home made masks as it helps preventing us from Covid-19. These have been made by women of rural areas in and around Mathura/Vrindavan. We have also involved 6 Self-Help Women Groups (SHG). We will pay them making charges by transferring the amount directly to their bank accounts so that we can provide them monetary support during this tough time.

We have started this by imparting them training and defining specifications to each SHG group.

We have distributed around 9000 masks till date to hawkers, rickshaw pullers, policemen and women manning posts at different locations of city. Everyday we will be distributing around 800-1000 masks in different markets and areas of Mathura and Vrindavan.

In the next phase by God willing we intend to make 3000 masks and distribute them in nearby villages.

Distribution of Dry Ration Kits

During this unprecedented time, alongside serving Maatas and distribution of masks we have identified around 100 families who are struggling for survival. This month we have started distributing dry ration kits to these identified families. Till now we have covered 7 villages in/around Mathura/Vrindavan. We have done first round of reaching out to these 100 families with dry ration which can last for a week for a family of 5 members.

Our purpose is to serve these 100 families for next 1-1.5 months. While serving them we will continue to identify such more families who can be served. We will also be identifying their skills so as to engage them in related work post lockdown.

During the Second Phase of distributed we have distributed 150 kits to the families. By Gods willing we will be distributing more kits in future.

  • Families served - 250

  • Meals served - 12500

Distribution of Sattu Kits to Migrant Labourers

Mathura being a border district is witnessing a lot of movement of migrant workers from Delhi/Haryana to UP and Bihar. These migrant workers are going back to their villages by walk following the rail track and highways. Realizing that dry ration kits won't be helpful for them, we designed Sattu kits which contains sattu, sugar and black salt, as these workers are very fond of Sattu, as it fills their stomach and keeps them hydrated (especially during summers) and easy to carry. These kits are distributed at local village railway station and on highways. We have distributed 250 Sattu kits so far. Our endeavour is to make these kits always available at the local railway stations so that no one passes without getting one.

EID SPECIAL- Distribution of Sewaiyan and Sugar Kit

To celebrate the feeling of oneness and brotherhood we thought of making festival of Eid more brighter and bring smilies on the families who are facing financial challenges to celebrate this festival. We organised 240 kg of Sewaiyan and 120 kg of Sugar. 400 kits were made (Sewaiyan 600 gm and Sugar 500 gm sufficient for a family of 5) and distributed among families of our Muslim brothers and Sisters who are daily wagers. Families truly felt elated.By Gods grace it got delivered at their doorsteps.

On Eve of EID, children of Juvenile home Mathura received Special blessings. Sewaiyan was prepared and served to them. This is the same Juvenile home where children were blessed by Sir, during his Visit to Vrindavan for Bhagwat.

The Juvenile home in Mathura has Children from Aligarh and also Bangladesh. Due to Lockdown no Parent is allowed to visit. We tried to bring some smile on there face.
