Ration distribution at Kondhwa

TSF Pune team identified 114 families(456 people) of daily wagers / laborer’s who have been out of work for more than 3 months now. They didn’t have any cash with them to buy ration and had received rice from local social worker only once. Apart from that supply, they have not received any help from anywhere. All these families needed ration urgently. Ration kits were distributed with the help of local social workers on 1st August, 2020. 13 of the families from Lakshmi Nagar were supported for second time after the initial ration distribution in early June.

Ration supply to Aniket - Round 4

On 7th August, 2020, 4th round of ration supply to Aniket specialty was conducted. Aniket was started by Ms. Kalpana Varpe whose unfettered determination, hard work and selfless efforts are responsible for helping scores of individuals from the age of 4 years to 46 years in the format of a residential rehabilitation center and school. Mr. Ashish Lad, a senior RSS worker in Pune, whose team has done tremendous work during pandemic crisis also accompanied the volunteers.

Ration supply to Manavya - Round 4

On 7th August, 2020, volunteers served 4th round of ration supply to Manvya Gokul, a home for HIV+ children, which offers a safe shelter, educational and vocational opportunities, nutritional diet and medical treatment and assistance (ART) for all our children. Gokul is situated in Bhugaon, very close to Pune city. Currently there are 57 children from age group of 1-18 years who now constitute as one big Gokul family. Manavya (Humanity in Marathi Language) is among the few pioneering Non-Government Organizations (NGO) in India, to understand the ramifications of HIV/AIDS outburst in India and to take necessary steps to rehabilitate the innocent children and women affected by this dreaded disease. Mr. Ashish Lad, a senior RSS worker in Pune, whose team has done tremendous work during pandemic crisis also accompanied the volunteers.

Ration distribution to underprivileged families at Hira Baug

On 8th August, 2020, TSF Pune team distributed ration kits to 250(1000 people) families of pavement vendors selling old clothes who were out of work due to lockdown for more than 3 months now. They had exhausted their meagre savings to buy ration and they have not received any help from anywhere. All these families needed ration urgently. All these 250 families are living together in a residential building which has been constructed under slum rehabilitation program. 5 people were Divyangs from these. At the beginning of the distribution one of the volunteers gave brief introduction about TSF and Sri M to these people which was well received. This was one of our fastest drives in terms of time taken in distribution as we received massive help from the local volunteers of the society in every aspect of the distribution activity. We also visited their Ganesh temple where everyone prayed for the welfare of all poor and downtrodden.

These beneficiary residents thanked TSF for the timely help and also offered any kind of support on any of the future TSF activities

Ration distribution to needy families of Tadiwala Road

Tadiwala road is a densely populated area which has been in the red zone from the very first lockdown. Most of the poor and lower middle-class people lost job or were not allowed leave the area for business or work forcing them to be on unpaid leave. Mr. Shashikant and Mr. Rajput are the local social workers who contacted us to help the people in need. Ration kits were distributed to 101 families(404 people) on 12th August, 2020. Some of the people served were widows, handicap and majorilty was hospital facility staff including nurses and housekeeping staff from hospitals and clinics in the red zone. Those who are now able to rejoin work are hoping to get timely salary for their sustenance.

It was heartening to see few people to come forward for volunteering from other areas of Pune where we have served in the past. These people were happy to offer a helping hand on the ground in our distribution activity.

Ration distribution to needy families at Pisoli Road

TSF Pune team received repeated distress calls to help 83 families of daily wagers/laborers/househelps who have been out of work for more than 4 months now. Some of these people used to work at small construction sites manually breaking stones. on 19th August, 2020, ration kits were distributed for 83 families(332 people) with the help of locals who are happy to lend helping hand in such noble activities.

Ration distribution to needy families at Erandwane

Pune TSF team served 6 needy families(24 people) in Erandwane area on the morning of 28thAugust, 2020. Ration kits were given to public sound system rental operators. 5 persons who work with providing audio/ public address systems could not earn any money since lockdown i.e more than 5 months. They had no opportunities during Ganapati festival this year either. Also 1 cobbler needed help and TSF volunteers decided to serve his family.

Ration distribution to Rickshaw drivers at Tadiwala Road

Pune TSF team served 291 families(1164 people) residing at Tadiwala Road on the evening of 28th August, 2020. Most of the families served are of autorickshaw drivers. Since the lockdown, plying of trains is limited and people hesitate to ride an autorickshaw because of infection scare. These autorickshaw drivers mostly go early morning@4am to railway station and if lucky find a customer by noon else return empty handed. They are facing problems with bank loan EMI and rents alongwith other basic expenses. Few Divyangs also received help through this activity. Mr Shashikant and Mr Rajput are local social workers who identified the need and approached TSF for help through Bhimai Pratishthan. Tadiwala road is a densely populated area and remained a red zone for months together. TSF volunteers also distributed cotton reusable masks together with ration kits.

Ration distribution to needy families of Janta Vasahat

Pune TSF team served 203 families(812 people) with ration kits on the afternoon of 29th August, 2020. Most of these families are of rag pickers including some divyangs. Janta Vasahat is considered to be largest slum in Pune. Due to the pandemic and consequent lockdown with decreased consumerism these people don’t get enough garbage to pick from. They are facing problems with daily survival. The huge population of this slum running into thousands of families were confined within the residential containment zone limits for months together and arranging of any kind of even small help was a big challenge logistics wise. We are thankful to Sow. Vrunda Vinod Hazare, Principal of RaoSaheb Patwardhan Vidyalaya to arrange for a safe distribution venue. She also helped enthusiastically in the mask distribution. Cotton reusable masks were also distributed together with the kits.

Ration Provision for Visually impaired bhajan singers

Kalasagar bhajani mandal Nigdi is a blind people group. Ambadas Mandlik is the leader who can see and helps this group to travel and perform bhajans and songs during different festivals and especially during Ganpati Utsav. Also during the rest of the year they sing and beg for help in Pune lonavala local train. Since lockdown they are also out of job and even their Ganesh festival income has been lost this year. The group was identified by Dr. Avikshit Kale during his Bhosari visit as he found them singing on the road chowk side . The local Chinchwadgaon Mandal adhyaksha Mr Mahesh Landge forwarded the request to TSF Pune. On the evening of 29th August, 2020, TSF volunteer provided help to the 8 singing members with ration kits. 1 ration kit was also provided to a needy family in the vicinity at Chinchwad. We served 36 people through this ativity
