This is one of those visual novels that's hard to give a short, spoiler-free review as there's so much that happens. This is one of the first visual novels that popularized the survival mystery drama genre (being an inspiration for other VNs like 999, Dei Gratia, etc). It may be a slow start, but keep with it and you'll grow to attached to the characters, unravel a very interesting mystery relating to the setting, and maybe get hit hard in the feels a few times.
The pacing may be a bit off for some people, but I quite liked it from start to finish. The slice of life is good for building up the characters, and then each heroine has some really good hard hitting drama and mindblowing plot twists.

You may have heard this repeated already when reading discussions about Ever17, but the common concensus is that the true route of Ever17 is the highlight of the VN and what makes it worth reading. I mostly agree - Ever17 does a really great job of building plot points and tying them all together in a very satisfying way. I'd also say that Tsugumi's route is one of my favourite heroine routes as well. Personally I found Ever17 to be a little disappointing in terms of emotional payoff, but the plot makes up for it. I definitely recommend checking it out and sticking with it until the end.

Its only official English release is an out-of-print hardcopy. Very expensive now. Good luck.
