Heartfelt and genuine: an emotional rollercoaster in every sense of the word by writing some of the most compelling characters in the medium. Maruto truly poured everything in White Album 2, and it shows in his crisp and descriptive prose, with many lines being able to convey so much emotion in a dense package. He is able to build such complex character dynamics and flesh them out in such riveting ways, the meticulous dedication he has to his characters is astounding in and of itself. Haruki, Setsuna and Kazusa all go through their own story arcs and deal with their own issues, clashing with each other and their world. The romance is very unique, presenting all the struggles and sacrifices needed in hopes of attaining that supposed happiness at the end of the tunnel. Ultimately, everything White Album 2 accomplishes is phenomenal as it is a true romantic epic, showcasing the flawed beauty of human nature.

Incredible romantic drama that can take its time but always has great payoffs. The kind of VN that you can think about and discuss for hours afterwards.

"A very realistic, well written and addictive drama visual novel. The characters are potrayed incredibly well. All of the characters, while coming off as unlikable at times, still make sense when they say or do something, and at no point does the story feel forced. All in all, White Album 2 is an immersive tale of love and regret. One with good art, great voicework and a brilliant soundtrack. And one I would definitely recommend. It's probably my favourite piece of media."

One of the most ambitious and meticulously designed romances out there, playing out less like a pure love story and more like a series of traffic accidents in slow-motion (yes, this is a recommendation). Every smaller ending is emotionally gratifying and the final ending truly feels like the culmination of the long road it took to get there.

Drama. Layers upon layers of continuous, compelling drama, which is present throughout the entire story. Even key’s works, which are often labelled as drama heavy pale in comparison to what WA2 has to offer. When it comes to soap operas, there arguable aren’t better alternatives than this. It does require some persistence with a semi-locked route order, but you will be greatly rewarded in the end.
