Persan Chignin - 2021 -

A & M Quenard

AOP Savoie

Endemic black grape from Savoie, it was first grown in St Jean de Maurienne. It then spread the whole Valley & the Alpine Arc. Perfectly suited for the slopes of the Combe de Savoie, it was the favorite grape variety of the Dukes of Savoie. It disappeared for decades, probably because of its low yield and its susceptibility to disease (mildew). It was rediscovered in centuries-old vineyard. It is still very little cultivated today.

Everything is powerful in this Persian, Intense nose of blackberries, blueberries, a solidly constituted & greedy mouth, a fine & balanced structure. A powerful and persistent wine, very pleasant to taste

Mondeuse d'Arbin grape. Developed according to the principles of Biodynamics, as naturally as possible. Manual harvesting and destemming of the grapes, cold pre-fermentation maceration followed by a full maceration of 3 months with its native yeasts in 500-litre barrels. Free-run and press juices assembled are barreled into the same barrels that were used for fermentation. Aging 18 months. Bottling without added sulfur

A wine like an explosion of fruit carried by a fine & balanced structure.

Sustained color, raspberry robe with purplish reflections. The nose reveals kirched and stewed aromas, notes of spices, cocoa and vanilla. It is in the mouth that the explosion of sensations occurs: complex, tender, dense and generous tannins. The finish of a great length offers a very beautiful harmony

For Brice OMONT, being a winegrower means going to the end of things. Amethyst in red, Schist & Quartz in white, are the wines of stubbornness and extreme. Landed in Cevins, on shale terraces with slopes of up to 60%. Vines abandoned for a long time, the weeds had completely invaded the land. They have been reworked entirely by hand since 1998. Biodynamic viticulture is heroic here, the yields are very low. These wines are the quintessence of this crazy work
