Refuge in the Buddha

Meditation

Pause - one to three times a day - for a minute or two - to practice any of the following meditations.

  • Mindfulness of Breath or Body: Take 3 to 10 deep breaths (4 counts in, 8 counts out) with Kindness and Curiosity.

  • Concentration on Compassion: Repeat to yourself: "May I be kind and gentle with myself."

Inquiry

  • List five of your most important values (i.e. honesty, compassion, kindness etc). Write briefly about why each one is important to you.

Renunciation

Pause to think or write about what happens after you experience a craving or using behavior - how do you feel emotionally or physically?

Refuge in the Sangha

Notice how your insights from this practice relate to the meetings you attend this week.
