Academic Statement

I encourage the classroom as a space to practice the roles students seek to play in their professional lives and our shared fields, while allowing room to collectively step back and reimagine their approach. Coursework offers opportunities to cultivate relationships with future colleagues and begin collaborations that can extend beyond the semester or the program. Horizontal mentorship plays an instrumental part in my work as an AV archivist, community archives consultant, and community media producer, so I strive to bring in colleagues and practical examples from my years in film, live events, social movements, and cultural heritage work.
