GSLIS Scholarships
Ellen Libretto and Adam Conrad Scholarship
GSLIS received a $2.5 million endowment from the estate of Mr. Adam Conrad in honor of his late wife, Ellen Libretto, an alumnus of GSLIS who devoted her decades long career to enhancing literacy among youth and teens through her work at the New York Public Library. Approximately $1 million of this endowment was directed to establish the Ellen Libretto and Adam Conrad Scholarship in 2019.
This scholarship is intended to support matriculated GSLIS students considering research projects in the field of youth literacy.
Amount: Tuition of LBSCI 709 (Research in Library and Information Studies)
Selection: The GSLIS AASSA Committee will review all applications and select top nominees, which will be presented to the full faculty for consideration and final decision. The AASSA Committee exercises the right to determine the number of scholarships awarded each year. Students may receive this scholarship only once while enrolled in GSLIS. Sponsored by the H.W. Wilson Foundation, this scholarship is awarded annually to provide students with assistance in financing their education in pursuit of the degree in library and information studies at Queens College.
Consideration is given to students currently enrolled in GSLIS who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership potential, and interest in the library and information science profession.
Amount: $500-$1,000

Mordine Mallory Scholarship of Archival Studies
This award is to be given in memory of Mordine Mallory, first librarian for the Queens College SEEK program and an early contributor to Black and ethnic studies on campus.
Consideration is given to a student who demonstrates support for diversity, equity, and inclusion in Archival Studies and engagement with intersections between Archival Studies and social justice.
