Academic Statement
I teach courses that connect archive and museum practice, theory, and history. It’s important to me that students come away from my classes with tangible skills and an understanding of how to creatively apply them in context to build stronger, more relevant cultural institutions. I am deeply passionate about helping students pursue their interests. As an alum of GSLIS, I strongly believe Queens College is an exciting place to launch a career in the information professions. My (virtual) door is always open to students with career questions, particularly in archives and museums.
I have worked in archives for over a decade in various roles and venues. I relish being an archival “jack-knife” and am fascinated by the interconnectedness of archival labor from accessioning to access. This interest spills into my scholarship, where cultural heritage institutions and practitioners are my sources. My research focuses on the history of cultural heritage institutions and the people, work practices, systems, and narratives that sustain them.
